A new front has opened in the war, the Baltic front. If we assume this was carried out by Russia. It sends a very clear message that they have the capability and motivation to attack underwater pipelines.

Making it clear that other pipelines could be vulnerable, mainly ones from Norway to the EU. Other underwater infrastructure could be considered targets, like communication cables.

Wow such news, Russia has capability to attack underwater pipelines that belong to them and are presumably guarded only by Russians to begin with. Wonder what all those Russian submarines where capable of for half a century or more now.

It probably isn't that hard to damage something that's thousands of kilometres long and not even mobile. It's probably not even possible to guard something like this. Bridges get shot down np and their length can't be considered even a fraction of a gaspipe

I know of no capabilities of surface ships to attack targets on the sea bed. Surface ships are the only ships people "know" when they go. Submarines can carry an attached deep sea submersible which could conceivably affix explosives to the pipelines, but there is absolutely no way you or anyone else with ordinary access on the internet has any idea where they are or were.
