I just became aware of the actual story behind this. What an incredible place, Canada.

Canada is easily one of the top countries in the world and often is ranked within the top 3 in most categories. One off events like this are rare and as a result we often don't make headlines which is a great thing.

It’s wild how they released the guy to begin with. Not saying the states don’t do things like that but I was surprised to find out being native makes sentences lighter just because.

Its not just because. Court precedent has been set due to determining factors that the significant amount of abuse indigenous people received early in life and continue to receive early in life as a result of being rounded up just a few generations ago and treated like complete animals. Its created a tremendous amount of suffering and broken homes which result in broken kids. Those factors are given consideration and if rehabilitation is possible given.

We're they right in this case, clearly not. Do I agree with the current system, no but I also draw the line at a very high % of people going through the process to not be repeat offenders.

Shatter is unfortunately doing its rounds right now. It's a plague.

So, just because. We don’t give light sentences to black people because of LBJ’s new deal. Why should violent scumbags be let off because their grandparent’s grandparents faced hardships?

Grand parents grand parents.

The fuck are you talking about. My co-workers all lived in igloos on the land and got relocated and completely separated from their families. They're in their 50s and early 60s..

I don't think you have any clue of how recent things happened.

Residential schools were still going in the 90s. Akaitcho Hall in YK, Kivillaq Hall in Rankin.

So regardless, that means it is okay to let violent repeat offenders (the guy in question has over 50 convictions, many violent crimes) out on parole after serving a small % of their sentence?

You are defending this? Just because of the guy’s dna?
