This, and I have yet to see an EV bolster great metrics in the -20F,-30F temperature ranges which is common in northern NA winters. Also, Climate Zone 6/7/8 winters are very hard on battery systems. EV battery needs to be above freezing to prevent charge damage.

That and I believe current EV's use significantly more power when running climate control settings in a vehicle and for us in colder zones we require heat, not just for comfort but to be able to defrost the vehicle to actually see the road.

What this also means is the vehicle is going to have a bunch of idle time while it heats up inside, further reducing the total range.

I know you can let your EV heat up while its still on the grid but most places don't have charging stations yet so unless you're at home you have to start it and let it idle while its not docked.


It sounds like i'm finding excuses as to why not to use an EV but that's not the case, they just are not developed enough for some places yet. I am sure they will be in the future.

EV are trash. They make it feel like EV is the key to having a better world when it's the fault of all the factories around the world polluting the air. We don't need 10 factories producing the same garbage. Close them all and keep the important one around. People shouldn't live working their whole life for corporations. No work+fix salaries = No pollution all day on the road. There's so many key moves like this to reduce pollution but they rather have us spend more $ on EV cars which won't help at all but hey; Free $ toward a market with infinite resources versus oil. Win/Win for em!

US: average temp= 18.7 °C
Norway: average temp= 8.9°C

2.3%... and tesla factories going to China, hopefully trickle down... Oh wait.
