police are not legally required to protect the public, they're ONLY legally required to protect the well being of citizens they've arrested or detained.

I had no idea. That's pretty wild.

Does this argument gets used for people who love guns? I can totally see the argument of, "since police isn't legally bound to protect you, you need to protect yourself."

no, pro gun people are pro police people, and they pretend that even though they're not required to protect citizens they will. as we've seen in texas they won't, they're cowards. these same people also say often that being a police officer is a dangerous job, last year something like 50 cops died due to criminals, thousands of citizens died due to cops. 50/700k officers die.

Do we see Firemen running away from fire? Paramedics running away from injured? Military running away from the enemy? Very understandable the public outrage with the police response.


If a soul is worth 10Milliion as some accountants and staticians use, then the value in a school outweighs the value of other public entities commonly protected like a courthouse. Maybe that Texas school should have been locked down tighter, one door, one on-duty guard or pseudo-guard. They have a custodial duty afterall. Seems worth the tax spend.

defund the police lefties screaming that cops need to be grabbing guns makes them the pro coppers (yes yes i know it doesnt make sense, a round of honks for ev1 :)

Reminder that even if police are specifically stationed to stop somebody, and they see that person, and they have a numbers advantage, and they have all the equipment they thought was necessary, and they actively see you getting murdered.... police have no legal obligation to intervene. Even if there are a dozen children getting murdered right in front of them.
