In my state of Oklahoma for example they are holding natives in federal holding for unknown amounts of time and just saying "we will get to it" because the Governor hates that the state lost jurisdiction.

Agreed that it makes pretty much zero sense to hold anyone until conviction.

Unfortunately that doesn't make the prison system/long term lawyers/bail bondsman etc any money.

I mean it personally blows my mind you have to appear in court for a seat belt ticket...like for real a $20 ticket is zero justification for that level of time waste.

Actually I'm military so I likely get preferential treatment, through the benefit of the doubt. Its good to be aware of the bias that exists in society, and how police use their unconscious bias on the populace, which is exactly why some accused criminals should get set free after their arrest while they await trail :)
