I would invite you to look at the official information apparatus and the corporate media outlets for at least a partial blame on this one. There is obviously a breach of public trust due to a long history of bias, corruption, censorship, mixed messages, and malevolent intent in so much of the messaging that comes from "the authorities" and the public trust is largely broken. You can't put every disagreement or miscommunication on just a bunch of dumb rednecks as easy as that is to do.

This is not a good thing - a country's official information apparatus should be trustworthy and act on behalf of all its citizens. Right now, the situation is a national security risk.

And those who have taken a political science class would tell you that Schenck v. United States is defunct and overturned, like Buck v Bell or Dred Scott. Regarded as one of the Supreme Court's gravest mistakes, and derived by the same Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr that wrote it. The clear-and-present-danger standard was a dumpster fire that led up to Dennis v US, which ruled that that a certain leftist organization was not allowed to exist and its general secretary had no right to exercise free speech, assemble like-minded individuals or publish literature. And was explicitly overturned by Brandenburg. So infamous that anyone citing the line 'fire in a crowded theater' is one of those tropes about regressives misunderstanding the first amendment.

But hey I'm all for reinstating Buck v Bell. Technically, there's no explicit precedent overturning it. We should sterilize all the undesirables and retards
