How you define something depends on the discussion and audience. If we are talking about medical science my definition will be much more nuanced than if we are talking about something more mundane.

Ok, I would say that we are talking about something mundane. Now, your personal definition of biological male, please.

It's just pure stupidity nowadays for this to be even a debate. Between reproductive organs and chromosomes this has been settled. This has been settled way before we even studied chromosomes by looking at all other mammals.

So you dont think these mutations happen in other animals even though we have goats with three heads?

Cool.

The Twitter thread I posted on the last page specifically addresses this whole "definition" conversation.

But if you create a new category for goats with 3 heads, it would be stupid. Having 3 heads, mutated genes, or being intersexed are diseased states of being. They should not have a new category dedicated to them.

Mutations happen all the time. Just because someone is born with 6 fingers or 4 fingers doesn't mean that homo sapiens have a spectrum of possibly digits we can be born with. To put it in a crude manner, genetical fuck ups happen but that doesn't mean it's what's normal. It would be retarded to start rewriting textbooks saying, "well sometimes animals have 1 head, 2 heads, 3 heads etc" because that's not reflective of 99.99% of the population and most often than not those genetical variants are not viable (many die early, many are infertile).

Why does it matter?

I have a personal definition of "biological male", but I'm asking you why my personal definition matters.

What discussion are you wanting to have?

So what would you describe somebody with male chromosomes who is born immune to androgens and so they develop female genitalia and internal testicals?

Xy = male
Xx= female

there is no personal definition

So how would you describe an XY person with female genitalia (androgen insensitivity syndrome)
Or somebody with an XXY? (Klinefelter syndrome)
Or somebody with an XYY?

Except this is exactly what textbooks are for, and I read about this exact thing in my high school textbooks when we did our basics genetics stuff.

The world doesn't fall into clean categories, as much as you want it to.

Yes these people exist however it doesn't mean sex is now a spectrum.

What specifically are you wanting to talk about?

Transgender people in sports? Bathroom segregation? If it's mundane why would we talk about it at all?

Just because a spectrum is heavily bi-modal doesn't mean it isn't still a spectrum
