I'm not buying Western sources when the West is in full propaganda mode. When I still had access to Russian news I could balance Russian propaganda vs Western propaganda but that is no longer possible as Russian news sources are no longer accessible without more effort than I'm willing to engage in.

At the moment the only source with any claim to neutrality that I have access to is Al Jazeera and even they have some stakes that could bias their reporting. Basically, everyone is lying and I know it. I'd have to actually go to Russia and stay there awhile to get a feel of what the Russian people actually think. That isn't happening.

One of the few respectable news sources. They tried to launch in America and it was great, but it didn't succeed. Probably the name. Leftist media doesn't work in the US though. Biggest production is probably Counter Punch and that isn't that big. Right Wing media is huge.

I also love that they are around. Their timing on trying to establish themselves in the US was extremely poor unfortunately. I agree the name didn't help, and the wars in the middle east combined with that to make it a non-starter. Also doesn't help them that they tend to show Palestine's side of the permanent conflict with Israel.
I don't think there is a left in the US. The democrats fancy themselves as left but they don't have very many left leaning positions.

Of course I'm not sure what left is anymore. 30 years ago the left was social liberty and free speech and for regulation of the market, things I fully support. Now it is something else entirely and I can't really understand what happened.

Every news source has its bias and Al Jazeera has an obvious bias. Like the BBC, Al Jazeera is actually pretty credible when reporting on world politics that their mother countries don't have a stake in. The BBC would lie all day long about Brexit, but they'll report on wars in hajjistan and balalakastan with impartial perspective. Al Jazeera often gives decent coverage of world politics but has a huge blind spot on anything relating to Qatar or the mideast in general.

Bin Laden wasn't the leader of a super power, he was an educated extremist who lead a ragtag band of delusional and suicidal crazy people who got lucky that US leadership was incompetent and then had to spend years hiding in terror as every single world super power searched for him.

Hitler killed himself after ordering the destruction of his own country because he blamed the German people for losing the war. He was a legitimate nut job who shot himself in the foot a few times before figuring out his head was a better target.

Neither case is remotely comparable. Germany certainly didn't have a power vacuum after WW2, it was occupied by the Allies. Bin Laden never had territory to begin with.

The cancer appears to have reached a critical mass and metastasized into a state too powerful for politicians to stop on their own.

How do you fight a lobby that controls every news network? Even Fox.
