Okay, I was sloppy when I phrased my previous post. You are right that lower middle management often times is still close to the employees and that their pay is usually adequate for the tremendous workload and pressure they have to endure. What I was referring to as being the lackey of shareholders is everyone from "upper middle management" up to the C-suite level.
even then its not strictly shareholders vs employees, these CEOs also give themselves massive raises based on profits they make from wage stagflation amidst pandemic labor shortages, taking away paid holiday time, reducing or stagnating benefits, etc.
do shareholders have their significant role, yes. do they also do this to get a new yacht, yes. fuck kellogs, next conveyor i design for them will fail a month after the warranty date is up.
the profit difference from just closing the plant on Christmas and New Years day would have been largely insignificant. or allow people to volunteer for a half shift. its purely malice.
