Why are we asking the question? That is the real revealing question that destroys your propaganda.

Families were fine without it in the past.

For the same reason we ask "should there be a wall between the US and Mexico?"

His first post in this thread was about a national healthcare system, and it's my recollection the polling that reflects actual reality on how it would be implemented shows it is not very popular.

Actually I think questions like that arebiased and kind of useless in measuring the real support behind policy that inevitably costs money and may have other tradeoffs.

One is about a specific implementation and the other is to get a general feel for universal coverage. I agree that progressives often conflate the two since they are all in on M4A.

That was straightforward. If a particular party wants to advocate a position, they need to see how popular it is.

"No taxes" is very popular, but it isn't beneficial or possible. Life is a negotiation between wants an needs.

Yet here we are where one party advocates lowering taxes and the other party advocates increasing taxes on the wealthy so that the rest can pay lower taxes.

Regardless of how you position the poll, paid family leave is massively popular.

On the question if "if we should have it". the answer is always overwhelmingly yes among all groups.

When you poll specifically based on who should pay for it, most say federal government, some say employer, some say state government.

Actually in the polls I've seen just the "yes" and "federal government pays" group are a majority

broad questions are almost always popular, people nearly never agree on specifics.

IMO, the federal government should provide a baseline (I'd say 2 months and the lesser value of your salary vs. the median salary in your county/state). It should be funded by a payroll tax increase (half from employer, half from you). My wife got full pay for 5 months which is pretty fucking incredible. I don't expect everyone to have such benefits. Companies having superior benefits is a great recruiting tool.
