Or maybe instead of being taught what to think and to respond to history and world events emotionally, they should just be taught history and world events and be left free to form their own opinions.
Once it becomes about emotion and narratives, inconvenient historical facts somehow start vanishing. You'd get people who think all lynching victims were innocent black men and all native americans were enlightened hippies who lived at peace with nature and each other and were terrorized by evil white men.
When critical race theory infects history, they stop teaching history and start teaching politics.

I dunno man, I think teaching our kids that slavery was unethical is a good thing.

There is a world of a difference between teaching kids that "slavery was unethical" and teaching them that "the entire country was built on nothing but slavery, genocide and ubiquitous racism which permeates every fiber of society to this day".

I haven't heard anybody say it was built only on slavery.

It's undeniable that it was built on slavery.

The NYT's 1619 project's central argument is that slavery was THE defining, all-important centerpiece of American history and that the entire nation was build around it.

There is. The problem is that your side doesn't want to teach about slavery, the trail of tears, etc. Like I said, I'm all for teaching children history but your side is scared that they'll lose voters if they are educated.

Which is not what you said. Honestly saying that the U.S. was built primarily on slavery isn't that far from the truth.

Honestly prior to 1900 I'd say slavery was the number one defining factor of the American economic model. It's not really that far fetched to say that slavery is one of the most defining factors in American history, including the racism that continues today. You can trace a shit load of things back to slavery and racism. You know why most states aportion educational funds based on zip code? Because whites didn't want to share school funds with blacks.

The consequences of slavery and racism are EVERYWHERE. A massive number of seemingly innocuous things were started and maintained because of it.

Terry mccauliffe: CRT is a racist dog whistle. It does not exist.

Terry mccailiffe in the same exact speaking event: There are just too many white teachers.

The entire Democratic Party is a fucking joke. If you are too dumb to see through this crap please move to California, Oregon, or Washington state. Get as far away from us as humanly possible.

This was his words just last night. Also, seen just a foot or two behind him is the blackface guy who was asked to resign but refused. Also Democrat.
