Which is not what you said. Honestly saying that the U.S. was built primarily on slavery isn't that far from the truth.
Honestly prior to 1900 I'd say slavery was the number one defining factor of the American economic model. It's not really that far fetched to say that slavery is one of the most defining factors in American history, including the racism that continues today. You can trace a shit load of things back to slavery and racism. You know why most states aportion educational funds based on zip code? Because whites didn't want to share school funds with blacks.
The consequences of slavery and racism are EVERYWHERE. A massive number of seemingly innocuous things were started and maintained because of it.
