This is pretty typical though, isn't it? For most people police are just guys who hassle you for silly stuff like minor speeding. This national myth that being a police officer is some heroic calling has always seemed ridiculous to me. Sure, occasionally they manage to protect people or catch bad guys, but most of the time they're just hassling people for bullshit.
