I'd say our relationship is 70% me and 30% wife in terms of who makes things happen.

My wife is pretty passive and risk-averse. As long as she can come home to her cats she's fine. I generally have to push her to get into hobbies and make friends, and she generally lets me do what I want as long as I can justify that our finances are in good enough shape to do it.

indeed. which is fine, just dont get married. all sorts of relationships (personal, professional etc.) require sacrifices and compromises. marriage you throw in sharing of assets and children in many instances. requires full-on commitment to the family unit which is far more pertinent than the individual needs

Obviously we are not talking about who has more hobbies than the other but we are talking about the bolded part, your wife is obviously in control of everything, now you're stating yourself you must "justify that our finances are in good enough shape to do it" well I guess that means you basically have to ask permission before you buy something XD

The trend seems to be an acceleration in relationship outcomes, not just divorce IMO. Other than a ~2/3 month dip, a lot of my peers including myself had a newborn. Wife having no job while I work remote lead to a lot of fun times in the sack :)

My father got into a pretty good relationship prior to COVID, but that fizzled out. The main problem seemed to be the political differences, which weren't a big problem until the last 6 months of Trumpism. Had to verbally slap the old man a few times, vagina controlling his thoughts.
