Potential 4D chess move for the Democrats:

Pardon Trump for any crimes committed in the name of unity. Then subpoena him to testify before Congress, where he can no longer plead the 5th.

About what, I don't know, but I bet they can come up with something.

I want our president to foster a political environment of civility. Unity on policy is not possible, but there can be a broader feeling that the country is more unified than before if leaders make an effort to at least have responsible, civil dialogue with the other side.

I view Republicans and the right-wing as much more divisive than the other side... as Thor said, it's basically their political strategy. And it's the business model of right-wing talk radio and Trump propaganda outlets... that's a major reason why the right-wing has gone nuts. However, I won't use that as a reason to say that Biden shouldn't continue his rhetoric of unifying the country.

Also, on impeachment... I find it refreshing that Biden has not been playing pundit-in-chief. He doesn't need to have an opinion on every issue of the day.

And the Senate failing to hold Trump responsible for his behavior is not a path to unity. It would just be a signal to his base that he did nothing wrong. Pushing these people further away from reality is not helpful in bringing the country together.

My taxes are still gonna be used to kill brown people thousand of miles across the globe instead of helping a country with a climbing suicide/depression/drug addiction crisis and dying middle class.

But won't have literal reality tv star moron in the executive branch I guess.
