That night, Rittenhouse was one of the armed civilians who wanted to protect businesses from vandalism. Wearing a red shirt, Rosenbaum was one of the protesters demanding justice for Jacob Blake, who was shot by Kenosha Police Department officer Rusten Sheskey in the back at least eight times on August 23, 2020.

During the demonstration, Rosenbaum threw a plastic bag at Rittenhouse, who was carrying a Smith & Wesson AR-15 style .223 rifle. When the former tried to grab the rifle, the latter opened fire.

Rosenbaum was shot in the back, groin and left hand. His pelvis was fractured and his right lung and liver were perforated.

Irrelevant to the conditions under which the 'mob' attempted to stop Rittenhouse. These folks knew shots had been fired, heard their comrades saying that he had killed someone, know from experience that right wing attacks on protestors have been common and had to make a split second decision about what was going on. With the warning that he had shot someone already they chose to put their lives on the line to stop him shooting others.

Rosenbaum's situation is unclear. Seems like he tried to chase Rittenhouse down after he had already flagged folks and threatened to shoot them.

Rosenbaum per court records was a convicted child molester who preyed on children, so it looks like he was seeking yet another underaged victim in Wisconsin that night when he was defeated by rifle
