True, and that's the reason the GOP is parading its black Congressmen/Senators around - all 3 of them.

quality over quantity. dont think any made some howlers like ‘Guam is going to capsize’ or that ‘Putin is advancing into Korea’

I would say that both Haley and Scott (with Scott clearly having the best) did the best tonight in terms of trying to reach out to Independent voters. The Cuban guy named Maximo also did well.

Most speakers were RED MEAT for the base though.

if smart each day will have more in the vein of Haley/Scott and less red meat

Agreed. I think the most effective thing for Republicans would be to talk about those LEGAL immigrant success stories, people who succeeded b/c of school choice, etc. So far, the diversity of GOP supporters, not just based on ethnicity, but on profession, has been excellent.

Tim Scotts speech really knocked it out of the park. Definitely going to sound 10x more like a president than Trump

They should nominate him when Trump inevitably strokes out and then vote for the black guy to own the libs.

People in this thread are already calling him racist slurs so you know he was good.

I only read/watched reaction on Twitter, but the takeaways were that it was effective at stoking the typical fears and grievances of the cult, and there were a few semi-serious speakers like Scott, Haley, and the Cuban guy who did well. One thing worth mentioning is that to be effective at rallying the base, it's necessary for the cult to do what they always do, which is construct an alternative universe where Trump is a serious president, he did well with COVID, Biden's both a radical socialist and too tough on crime, etc etc. It's basically just throwing everything they have out with no regard to a consistent message.

I'm not sure anyone knows whether the constant red-meat to the base is a sound strategy for Trump winning. We'll find out. Overall though, the expectations for this event were pretty low, and it went fairly well.

Do yourself a favor and watch Scott's speech so you can daydream about voting for a Republican again some day

Lawl.

Just watched it. Very aspirational message. The criticism of Democrats and Biden was mostly fair game until the last couple minutes(socialist utopia lol). My guess is the ratings went down at Fox during his speech.

It was interesting that he framed the election as not just about Trump. He even ended saying "support the Republican ticket". Smart move.
