by this point the misrepresenting his position has to be a meme. calling something shameful =/= "shouldn't be able to"

But it's interesting which actions, of similar nature, get deemed 'shameful'. Very telling, I think.

reddit has always been a terrible place to discuss politics. This 'change' just makes it even worse and motivates me to steer clear of it even more. But that doesn't take away from the fact that many of the niche subs serve their intended purpose very well (like sharing Alexa Pearl content).

On a positive note, I started using Parler and have been enjoying it. It's obviously not the same media giant, but it's been enjoyable.

Donald needs to announce the creation of an account on there and make some exclusive Parler posts here and there to draw some more people. But I'm happy with the # of users already.

Still an issue with what's occurring in other sites like Twitter, which previously announced that they were a free market for speech. Trump's comment regarding using force on preventing an autonomous zone tells you everything about the extreme anti-republican media.

Announce site as free speech -> gain hundreds of millions of users -> purge politically leaning right voices

So wrong.

I still use Reddit sometimes despite that it's extremely left leaning and biased. I usually do pretty good on there, but there will always be the 1-2 far lefties who will try to attack you if you don't 100% support their own spoonfed narrative. It's all good though, when you're commenting by using rational and logical posting and they continue to argue based on emotion, the mob will turn on those guys as it's easy to point out the flaws in those situations. Kinda neat to see that develop sometimes. Lol.

(Autozone was one of the first stores burned down in Minneapolis at the start of this fiasco, not sure how well nationally that is known)

Sooo many more. These are just some I came across on there.

I always get a chuckle out of these arguments aimed at libertarian fallacies, maybe it appeals to cam or someone, but I've always been ready to use dark magic to reanimate Teddy Roosevelt's corpse and send it lurching towards the nearest anti-competitive monopoly. The free speech rights of private citizens and the diversity of opinion in the public square outweighs any corporate political agenda. It shouldn't even be a debate. If monopolistic companies want to throw their weight around to censor the American public and micromanage what the average person can express in their private life and public sphere, then its the duty of the government to regulate the shit out of them with whatever intervention is necessary.
All it really demonstrates in the end is why libertarianism is a naive political philosophy, because the same people who believe strongly in market forces and social darwinism don't recognize the cancerous effects when monopolistic forces and corrupt agendas stop playing fair. Personal liberties are only maximized in the system when the authorities are both able to intervene to break up abuses by private entities, as well as safeguarding the public against their own oppressive excess. Its a balancing game. And the authoritarian left and libertarian right are both in entrenched extremes that fall off that razor's edge.

You're really abusing the word monopoly here and your argument hinges on a faulty definition.

Reddit isn't a monopoly, nor is it an essential service.

You can dig up corpses and try necromancy, it would be less devious than pretending reddit is harming anyone.

You should make thisonopoly argument for CNN and see how many people jump on board.

Well isn't this just sweet karmatic justice since the people most affected by Reddit's policy have also been the people who believe businesses have the right to decline services to LGBTQ+ people?

Market forces gonna' market.

Where were these people when hobby lobby made the ridiculous claim that their employees taking birth control affected their spiritual development and fate?
