Tell that to the dude who resisted arrest, fought with the cops, stole a multi-shot taser, and fired the multi-shot taser at the cops.

Who said anything about him "giving up peacefully at a later date".

There's no reason a DWI should escalate to the point that someone gets killed.

There's no reason jaywalking should escalate to the point that someone gets killed.
But what are you supposed to do if a jaywalking protester randomly pulls out a gun and shoots a motorist in the head? Like this:

Police didn't investigate that as a jaywalking, they charged it as attempted second-degree murder, first degree assault, reckless endangerment, felony menacing, criminal mischief, illegal discharge of a firearm and prohibited use of weapons.
How many of those did Rayshard Brooks commit in his attack on police? Everyone was normal and mundane up until they tried to cuff him and he decided to fight his way out, escalating with throws and grapples, escalating with closed-fist haymakers to the face, escalating by grabbing at his gun, escalating grabbing his taser and escalating shooting the taser at the cop.

Hi Goom, please stick to the thread at-hand, which involves a taser.

They have his car, his identity, they know he has no firearm ? It's really a free kill.

He was being placed under arrest and attacked an officer, stole his weapon, and then used it to attack said officer.

It sounds like he escalated the situation and got himself killed.

Kind of funny that the only person really with a history of doing something like that is njaguar.

Also, nobody cares about PaRD. You think anyone cares about what's posted here and think us worthwhile? Not a chance. We're just a bunch of degenerates who cling to a dying subforum for a game we used to play more than a decade ago, and for whom the comfort of at least feeling you're familiar with who posts in PaRD is better than the black hole abyss that is other posting forums/Reddits that have thousands of daily users.

Killer Mike (of Atlanta) in Atlanta two weeks ago: “We have to be better than burning down our own homes because if we lose Atlanta, what else we got? It is your duty to not burn your own house down for anger with an enemy. It is your duty to fortify your own house, so that you may be a house of refuge in times of organisation. And now is the time to plot, plan, strategise, organise, and mobilise."

Don't resist arrest, assault a police officer, steal his weapon, and then fire on him. This is really basic stuff.

I agree with this. The deaths of Floyd and Arbery should not be conflated with this one...but society is very messy and complicated, and I think the moment is too big and emotional for us to dissect each circumstance individually with nuance.

I like PaRD. It's a unique little community with a predictable but still interesting cast of characters. It is certainly better than posting on reddit, like you mentioned.

It's also better to debate and argue with internet strangers than it is to debate with friends and family over Facebook and social media, potentially straining real relationships.
