Sanders significantly shifted the conversation of the Democrats to the left.
Even if he's never elected, he got them considering policies that definitely weren't in the public consciousness before.
Whether it stays that way, only time will tell, but for now he has had a significant impact on the dialogue.
Conversation doesn't equal actual progress, but it can lead to it.
His impact in that regard remains to be seen, but i will agree that if democratic policy actually shifts to left then he'll have a serious legacy. Joe Biden's massive overtaking of Sanders shows that the majority of the democartic party has rejected Sanders' policy. He has utterly crashed and burned after being the consensus front runner. I'm thinking his agenda lead to some ripples, but not a wave.

talk about canned talking points and simplistic views... sanders has worked harder than any of his peers, against overwhelming and well funded resistance from both establishment parties, but he remained principled and tireless. the fact that you can't even acknowledge that just illustrates what a biased hack you are. his 'wealth' is outright laughable compared to other senators of his age and profile. the whole 'he himself is a millionaire and therefore a hypocrite' talking point has been debunked into oblivion about a thousand times, and you should feel stupid for still regurgitating it like a brainwashed idiot.
and no, it is not 'against the grain' if you could do ANY nuance at all. it is true that i strongly dislike the american empire, and the suffering it has caused worldwide post 1950. i don't, however, hate the american people. i don't wish for america to fail, that's just the simplistic conclusion you draw because you can't deal with criticism. in fact, i would love to see america restored to the power for good in the world that it once was: the nation that saved the world from brutal dictatorships in the 1940s, despite unthinkable casualties and sacrifices - not the corporate driven greedy empire that plunges whole regions into chaos and installs puppet governments for short term profits and a military industry that has to justify its constant expansion.
quite frankly, the way your government treats you is really a crime against basic decency, and goes against all of america's original ideals. the sad part is that you're a victim of it, but you keep defending it like an abused wife. obviously that's part of the plan, brainless jingoism and deep internal division are effective tools to make people blind to how they are actually treated, but it takes a special kind of stupid to continue defending your abuser when confronted with the truth and a possible solution.
I'm not reading any of that rage essay. I already know what it says.

i too would hate a nation who destroyed my nation’s military forces time and time again on the battlefields in the wars in which my ancestors (in fender’s case, joseph and the kaiser) started
He's very easy to trigger. Hopefully he find's peace in his/her/other sad life. All that rage....
