I think we were talking about ILLEGAL immigrants. I and the "conservatives" have no issues with LEGAL immigrants. Let's make sure we keep that distinction clear.

Asylum seekers are NOT LEGAL immigrants. They are asylum seekers.


/e And in most cases, especially lately, they aren't even asylum seekers. They are people that wish to ignore our immigration laws, and are pretending to be asylum seekers.

/ee Which, is why, Trump passed that law that asylum seekers have to seek asylum in the first safe country they pass through.

The levels of legal immigration and the type of immigrants chosen for it are a political question which is under political control. Any new administration has wide leeway to change it. If an administration decides to curb or expand legal immigration, it is no problem to enact this political decision.


The problem with illegal immigration along the southern border is a legal and safety issue and currently outside of political control. If an administration decides to stop illegal immigration, it is a huge struggle to actually make it happen, to actually enact this political decision.




Being unhappy with the loss of control on the southern border is a different kind of dissatisfaction than disagreeing on the levels and composition of legal migration.
