did you eat chili and rice while watching kung fu after work like the rest of the boomers?

Sorry bro... in my book, chili and rice just don't go together. But I definitely watched Kung Fu.

Just think... if the world was like Matrix, every snowflake out there could learn Kung Fu overnight. The best part about the show Kung Fu, and the art of Kung Fu, is that it's totally defensive. No assholes allowed.

/e Hell of a lot better than a red badge if you ask me. :D

/ee Like I said though... it doesn't have to be Kung Fu....it can be verbal like a "KAREN" or say... like the little girl in the John Wayne movie: True Grit. "Waving that lawyer J. Nobel Daggat around like a six shooter". :D

You are overestimating the effects of safespaces. Having your own place is fine, but why label a quiet space a safe space?

I don't disagree. I'm just saying that people against this feel like people owe them conversations.

Though I generally agree with this sentiment, I do think that it might stifle discourse in some ways. And especially with it being a conference (usually they are just means to network/socialize amongst academics), I'd think that most attendees would stand to benefit from an open stance towards interaction. If you don't want to interact with people, why go to the conference at all?
