ok, so how would we ensure that citizens are proficient with their firearms and trained in their use? what system would we implement to adhere to that interpretation of the 2nd amendment?

Would a system of training and licensing (similar to the one we use for automobiles) not be in line with such a system?

Bring back firearms safety training to American public schools? There's only one important part of the amendment, the operative clause stating "the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed." The prefatory clause was a statement of purpose, not a condition on the right.

/e I've already gone over licensing. Licensing a right is unconstitutional.

So which body would you anoint in order to perform the 'regulation' that is mentioned in the 2nd amendment?

A video I linked here last week featured a historian suggesting that insurance companies might be appropriate for that task. They operate on the free market and already have the means to assess risk

I don't think a private company should have power over access to that which is a right.

Santara is far more knowledgeable and eloquent than I am on this topic, so I would defer to him and his responses.

Training in school is an excellent suggestion and if you use air rifles or .22's it can be done safely and would be relatively inexpensive. In addition to this if the NRA would quit wasting money on luxury resorts and 6 star hotels for its executives/board members they might be able to offer free training in every county in the US.

This is how I started on the rez at a young age. Not training in school but we had men that instructed on safety and competency as well as understanding they are a tool or a weapon and the responsibility that comes with that. Hunting, tracking, survival etc all a part of it and I think is important for any young person to be a part of.

Started with bows bb guns pellet guns .22 and went from there.

I'm not someone that is into the mandatory 2 years of military thing but this topic is a very good reason for people that are

But the amount of times your scared cops are shooting someone in the back while the gun laws subject is running in the opposite direction = 243

Agree he should stop anyway, it's just fine tik tak tik tak. :D

it would seem that using meaningless filler phrases in an attempt to sound like you have an actual argument is a slippery slope.

also, it seems saying "saying it XX times wont change that it's debuked" is the best way to debunk something.

thesnipa: youre not making a valid argument

fender: youre not making a valid argument

Literal "I know you are but what am i?"

also, maybe you should be more focused on the "u" in "behaviour", both literally and metaphorically.
