Tbh he inherited a highly successful company along with his inheritance...almost succeeded in driving it into bankruptcy but was bailed out by the government in the early 90s. Advocating against government assistance makes him a little hypocritical.

I remember reading a while ago that if the company Trump inherited had continued the growth it expderienced consistently under his Trumps father it would be worth upwards of 60 billion now. I'm skeptical about the numbers and how much that figure actually means since the economy is pretty different now than from 1974, but considering all the bankruptcies that happened under Trump I'd say it's a reasonable metric of his success. (a.k.a. inherited a much greater value, proceded to destroy it)
