It was on county letterhead and they wouldn't take it? Seems more than reasonable proof to me of residency. But still, residency and voting eligibility due to citizenship are two different things.

I went into the county clerks office to get a voter certificate because I needed proof of residency to renew my license and it was denied. Renewing my license was a pain in the ass and it wasn't even expired.

EDIT: they wouldn't accept my selective services registration that had my name and social security number printed on it as evidence that I was a US citizen either. Utah made it a serious pain to renew licenses/voting

So... you moved and the address on your license didn't match where you needed to vote? Something doesn't make sense to me here.

Then I'm not following what the UT process here is. To vote, you need a voter certificate? To get the certificate, you have to prove residency? Right?

If so, why doesn't your license as-is count as residency?

I registered to vote when I was 18. The laws to acquire/renew a drivers license changed since I obtained mine and I had to renew. The process was painful and ridiculous. Because I put up with it I can vote... But no one should have to jump though all of these hoops. I had to appeal the dmv for fucks sake to get my renewal.

You're making my head hurt here...

You had to appeal the DMV to renew a non-expired license? You only had to renew so that you could get a voter certificate that you already had?

I had to renew my drivers license so that I might vote in this upcoming election because both are required. The DMV made it a pain to renew my drivers license when I already had one and prior voter registration with proof of having a social security number.

So if you were actually at the expiration of your license when renewing, the process would have been smooth?

My license wasn't expired at the time it had 3 months of validity left. I am terrified of what it would've been like had my license expired

It would have been valid at the time of the last election? If so, why did you have to renew a valid license to vote?
