Actually you just have to desire to get better(spiritually), to always seek more truth, check for youself and share what you learned.
This book helps you desire more, seek more... if you already have some desire to seek.

I just found a video on science forum, that can help too :

I'm sorry, but simply desiring to be better doesn't cut it. There have to be methods and techniques that allow you to re-train your mind. This is one of the main reasons I'm a Buddhist, because they have a praxis that allows you to train your mind to be compassionate and wise, while the other religions simply say 'be compassionate' or 'be wise' without giving a method to do so.

You can't wish yourself to have no hatred or craving, you have to do something about it, like lovingkindness meditation, shamatha meditation, vipashyana meditation, tong len, and various tantra techniques.

Meditation can help, many things can help... just stop think too much when it's not needed (most of the time), and try understand the way you feel is only up to you.
If some one call you piece of shit or anything, and you get angry, it is coming from YOU.
You can control that with desire and training.

If the desire to be good and not have afflictive states of mind were all that one needed, then everyone in the world who follows a religion would already be enlightened.

No, because religions are currently spreading myths... physical resurrection of Jesus that "Christians" are spreading is most obvious.
But if you see the truth in any religion (when you understand the message of Jesus or Buddha) and follow it, you will be enlightened.

Myths have nothing to do with desiring to be a good person. One can desire to be a good person and still believe in myths, they will have no impact on whether or not they can become a good person. For instance, many Buddhists believe in reincarnation, which is a myth, but that doesn't stop them from training to become very good, through thought, speech, and deed, and wholesome, mentally.

And you cannot follow a message unless you have a method to do so with. Simply wanting to be like Jesus isn't enough.

...I personally think Newton went all mad hatter in his later years probably from playing with mercury and lead in his quest for the philosophers stone .

Cut the dude some slack lol. He invented both classical physics and calculus, if he had a couple more lifetimes he probably could have sorted out chemistry too.

Jesus said, "I am in all things; yet I am beyond all things. Not through seeking will you find me, but through Peace. Nevertheless, through seeking you will find yourselves, and then will you know the Eloheim."

Jesus said, "The seeker should not stop until he finds. When he does find, he will be disturbed. After having been disturbed, he will be astonished. Then he will reign over everything.”

Seeking is the "method"

Did you watch that video I posted about 3 hours ago ? It is really interresting.

No, seeking cannot be a method. I could desire that I want a bottle of soda on my desk, and I could do that forever, but it takes me working for cash and then using that cash to get the soda. You think you can get the soda just by sitting there 'seeking' it.
