Richard Dawkins likes to respond to creationist claims of design by saying they are merely the appearance of design.

Dawkins is the great fool of the 20th century. He now says he is "culturally Christian" ever since his bizarre ideology fell apart 😅

Many Non-Believers are culturally christian actually, including me. My kids are both baptised, we celebrate easter, Christmas and so on. I dont see how this is a problem.

A lot of countries, especially european countries like my own, are deeply connected to a lot of christian traditions historically and a lot of those traditions are wonderful. We never go to church, I am no church member, but I wouldnt have a problem with going there either. If my wife, a christian, would ask me to go to church with her and the girls I would absolutely do this.
I would never take anything away from my children just because of my ego.

There isn't really a problem with that.
Because you use the word non-believer that's fine.
Religion isn't a matter of belief. It's a matter of understanding.

You would no doubt understand concepts like water being something that purifies ie: like in baptism. Or when you have a shower. Or that an egg on Easter can represent a symbol of new life. Or that the word 'mass' at Christmas represents a number of people gathering together.

You may be more religious than you claim to be if you actually understand these concepts rationally.

I dont see this as an insult and I dont think you meant it as one either.

I never said religion is full on bad or false. I just dont believe that its core is true which is the existence of divinity. Doesnt mean it doesnt have a message that we all, believers and non-believers, cant bring to good use.

I always liked the symbolism you just described. I am not against tradition, metaphors or stories about good people. I think especially for kids, religion is a good thing if its not too extreme. I would never go to my kids and tell them god is probably not real.
They are little kids, they deserve to have dreams and feel the magic that religion can without a doubt spread for them. An adult, pretty humorless take on that is not what they deserve.

Also, they shouldnt be left out. In Kindergarten and school, religion is still a big thing and I want my kids to be part of this. Part of the community, part of the celebrations, I want them to have fun with their friends instead of being the poor loners that arent allowed to join the club because their dad think its not true.
