Based on data from the Pew Research Center and other studies, voters and adults with higher levels of education—specifically postgraduate degrees—are more likely to identify with or lean toward the Democratic Party. Conversely, adults without a four-year college degree are more likely to align with the Republican Party.
Let's get a little deeper into that.
It turns out most people with postgraduate degrees studied in the humanities and soft sciences. These people are much more likely to vote democrat.
Engineers, on the other hand, are much more likely to vote republican.
You get even more confounding results when you look at other STEM fields, it turns out the most intelligent people do not vote as a group. Some are more likely to vote republican and some are more likely to vote democrat but the margins are much narrower than what you see in dumber groups like those who study the humanities.
