do you believe just because someone has autism, ADHD, or w/e disorders you listed, that they shouldn't have consequences to their actions?
sure, there's a point where mental illness plays a role. but there's also a point where society needs to say hold the hell up, this dude is extremely dangerous
wouldn't you agree putting your teacher in a coma falls under the latter?
No. I think they should be managed appropriately, which doesn't sound like it happened here due to the agency the kid was with placing him in the school despite his mothers concerns about it. I don't know what their reasoning was for doing it but IMO they are largely to blame for this happening by doing so. They are at least a large part of the equation that is being left out of the conversation.
Were he being managed appropriately and something like this happened i think his level of care/supervision/restraint would need to be upgraded, because this happened in a place he shouldn't have been to begin with (In my opinion) I think it should be taken into consideration, along with his mental condition, before deciding how he should be dealt with.

I don't think autism means one has the mental maturity of a small child. It just means the person has low social skills. But he should still know right from wrong, which I think should be the key determinant of whether someone is mentally fit to stand trial.
I think by now everybody agrees that the teen is violent and guilty. The only thing left is whether he should go to a regular jail or a mental institution.
It's a neurodevelopmental disorder and it ranges in severity, some are able to function independently but the more severe cases like his require a lot of support. Saying he has the mental capabilities of a toddler may not have been the best wording, but his condition is much more severe than just poor social skills.
And yes basically agree he is violent, the guilt will be determined by the court but he definitely assaulted his teacher and can't remain in that situation.

Dizzy didn't say we should let the teen talk free. He's saying that he needs to be in a mental institution instead of prison.
Yeah basically, or at least returned to his previous level of care. I think it is strange that despite being 17 when it happened he is being charged as an adult because he turned 18 in custody, I don't know the standard procedure for that so I assume it is normal but it seems messed up in this situation
