Some people still believe being a goth is a good idea. The internet age means that you don't even need your niche to be real life. If you tell young, confused children that the solution to either mental illness or normal awkwardness is life-altering treatment, you'll get more of it. How many children are being medicated for depression these days? Looking at suicide rates, we seem to be trending in the wrong direction.
SSRIs are a top issue for me, so i dont disagree at all. am incredibly anti SSRIs. and i dont disagree niche communities grow via online support, all im saying is forming a massive protest against educators is misplaced rage and ineffectual. this narrative that the problem of ideologue teachers looking to transition your kids is silly, its a rare thing, and no where near the top issues of education. it's typical, rather than focus on systematic failures of education which are pervasive, we instead focus on cultural nonissues that are rare at best.
