dont worry, these guys will find another playground soon as they need constant conflict to keep the machinery going and the army busy
yemen maybe? libya is a terrorist hotspot
i wouldnt be suprised if the syria theater warms up again, has been pretty quiet and they can shoot another shot "assad used chemical weapons"
problem is though that both libya and syria would likely involve other big players
they will take a break, but something is gonna go down soon enough
The thing is, after Biden specifically withdrew from Afghanistan at great cost to America's reputation, it would require insane mental gymanstics to justify a new foreign intervention in a muslim country soon thereafter.
I don't see a new, full-fledged intervention before 2025.

This article seems to equate not taking responsibility with explaining the reasons.
Pretty silly IMO
When someone claims to take full responsibility, but then comes up with a myriad of reasons why nothing that happened was actually his fault, then he's only paying lip-service to taking responsibility.
To be more specific: of course Biden is correct in pointing out that the Afghan military was corrupt, incompetent, weak-willed and disloyal. Or how the intelligence community collectively failed when it concluded that it would take the Taliban months to years to reconquer the country.
But Biden has 40+ years of experience with foreign policy and working with the intelligence community. He saw them fail time and time again and lead the country into costly debacle after costly debacle. Biden is a guy who boasted about being super experienced and qualified on the campaign trail, the friendly media constantly stressed his foreign policy bonafides. Biden has such a trove of experience, so him falling for such a painfully obvious misjudgement by his generals and intelligence community is a personal failure of leadership and judgement. It's not like there were no cautionary voices, or like the corruption and dysfunctionality of the Afghan state were a secret. Biden could and should have known better than to listen to these moronic swamp creatures who kept claiming that the Taliban were weak, the Afghan military reliable and everything would be fine.
Side note: Trump not really listening to the intelligence community was one of the best aspects of his presidency, even if he ignored and antagonized them for the wrong reasons.
