In a move that I find morally repugnant, Senator Diane Feinstein proposes that states who do not have a mask mandate should be precluded from receiving financial aid in the next Covid-19 relief bill:

Quote (The Hill)
Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) called on the Senate on Thursday to support an amendment to the next coronavirus relief bill that would bar states that do not implement mask mandates from receiving stimulus funding.

In a statement from the senator's office, Feinstein announced her intention to introduce the amendment and stated that it was time for Congress to step in and force states to implement such mandates to stop the virus from spreading.

maybe fake news only operates on fake science, and fake science isn't on their side

I mean, her quote was literally that the science is on her side and thus is not in the way, but that's not accounting for fake science

I would definitely take a different approach. Force people who come from out of state to quarantine for 2 weeks.

yes. under strict guidelines... that trump didn't like... and subsequently decided to withhold data from the cdc...

you're doing it again. ignoring the blatantly obvious in order to downplay the shittyness of this administration. you just can't help it, can you?

I should probably also make a point of linking the journal Kayleigh was quoting:

https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamapediatrics/fullarticle/2766037

as she said;

Quote
The science is very clear on this, that — you know, for instance, you look at the JAMA Pediatrics study of 46 pediatric hospitals in North America that said the risk of critical illness from COVID is far less for children than that of seasonal flu.

and as the study says;

Quote
Finally, it is important to emphasize that the overall burden of COVID-19 infection in children remains relatively low compared with seasonal influenza. As of April 28, 2020, the CDC report 8 deaths in children 14 years or younger related to COVID-19 infection, whereas there have so far been 169 influenza-related deaths in children 14 years or younger during the 2019-2020 season, with 81 of these occurring in 2020.14,15 Thus, up to this time of the pandemic in North America, children continue to face a far greater risk of critical illness from influenza than from COVID-19, pointing to the imperative for ongoing preventive pediatric health maintenance during this time.
