trade account balances are looking worse than usual for energy importing nations due to heavy inflation in those goods, it should decrease next year

Am I having a brainfart or is this just not true? Say the prices for energy imports don't go up any further next year, but remain at their current level - then inflation rates will come down again, but trade balances will stay the same.

They're likely to decrease in price from the current level

Even staying at the current level with modest price inflation in other goods, the trade account would be in a smaller deficit for energy importers as energy would constitute a lower proportion of the total basket of goods

The new Education Minister on Thursday:

The whole cabinet needs binning and a general election to take place. A new leadership won't be enough

Why on earth would Tories agree to throw away 2.5 more years of their current majority in favour of a new general election which would see them get massacred?

The new leader won't have a proper mandate until they win a general election. The tory membership are far away from the average voter and it'll be difficult to make the sweeping reforms necessary without commanding that mandate

A new PM will have upto 2.5 years of a majority government.
The political setup is a joke for ordinary people.

The fact that so many Tories believe they are fit to be PM, just weeks after supporting Johnson in a confidence vote, only highlights how out of touch they are from reality.

Yeah, most/all of them have no integrity and that's even before considering policy. I thought Hunt would be a serious candidate but then he announced Esther McVey would be his Deputy PM...

I really hope the next leader will focus on investment spending instead of austerity and pursue a less antagonistic approach with the EU when renegotiating the NI Protocol and other bits of the Brexit deal

I feel like if those two strategies aren't followed, then the breakup of the UK will be inevitable
