He a protégé of President Clinton perhaps? JFK? Seems par for the course, tbh.

Expecting ethical standards from politicians in 2022. LOL.

Can't wait :D I sorta agree with you except on the climate. Also, wages are pretty similar in NZ to the UK, but it's not all about money. If everything is about money then the Middle East is pretty good I hear, but I wouldn't fancy living there

well, i always disliked the warm seasons / climates - and i don't just say that when it's unbearably hot in the summer, but also when i'm freezing my balls off. so straya would be too hot for me, and singapore has very uneuropean humidity on top of that - and i might start missing distinguishable seasons, so i'd probably suffer there the most, lol.

There are like 10000 examples of stuff like this. I've had enough of the way the country is going to the point where I'm leaving next month and may not return. No point staying when you can work remotely in many countries or just work there for more money and a better quality of life

and lower taxes ^_^

Boris, your time is now over B)

Praying for a general election now, best realistic scenario is a labour-lib dem coalition

american conservatives will be totally bewildered by two senior cabinet ministers resigning, citing standards and principles, in order to pressure the government of their own party. they just know blind allegiance to whoever is in charge, no matter how vile, dangerous, or incompetent they are. that said, rishi sunak is still a cunt, but good on him...

Javid has a strong moral compass, no doubt about that, but Sunak went along with everything Boris did for years and he's a chancellor that hates spending money. Even in his resignation letter he moaned more about how Boris wanted him to spend more (which I actually agree with Boris on) and barely gave a mention to ethics. We've had the lowest public investment as a % of GDP in Europe since 2010, with the exception of Greece...so it's time to spend

Why would Tories agree to a general election? They still have a healthy majority in the Commons and would get slaughtered in an election right now. The way I see it, the party just has to finally settle on a new leader (and, by extension, PM).

i see. didn't know too much about javid prior to reading some articles just now. sunak's politics are rather familiar to me though, hence my comment. still, despite bojo already treading on thin ice, this step does not appear to be a safe political bet for them - even if it should turn out to benefit their careers in the long run - and at least some of their motivation might be genuinely principled, or am i missing something important here?

A couple of potential reasons. Country is a mess right now, passing the buck to labour/lib dems for 4 years could give them an opportunity to deflect some of the damage onto them. Also, if team Boris continues to back Boris (or a Boris-like successor), the party is potentially split right down the middle, a genuinely struggle to see who could unite it again.
