Their suspicion is it would be someone who lives nearby and holds a grudge against the military since they are the only space force or any other branch officers living in that area, and are often in uniform so some nutter could see it and google them up.
Every sign is this was indeed a legit face value politically motivated attack and not a friendly fire, they don't have any insurance motive or dubious history.
