Uh, of course I realize it. This looks like it could have been written by any of my Marxist friends. Dude, I'm pretty sure AOC has tweeted out almost verbatim what you just posted at some point.

Then why do you support the further erosion of this middle class?

Dude go for a drive and look around. These government mandates are 10x worse than what happened in 2008. With that recession, business slowed down but you still had something coming in. Now you literally have government forcing tons of industries to shutdown for several months, as if a small lifestyle business has the working capital to survive 6+ months. I see way more closed storefronts than i did in 2008. I see 'for sale' signs popping up everywhere on commercial properties. Many of those people are mostly middle class being permanently booted down to the lower class.

Meanwhile large corporations are raking in dough licking their chops at the vacuum that's being left with so many of these small competitors being curbed stomped.

Covid hasn't started anything new. This has been happening for a long time. Covid just sped it up enough that you are noticing.

Bullshit. Plenty of perfectly healthy small businesses have been destroyed through no fault of their own by covid, thrusting the families whose livelihood was based on them from the middle class down to the other plebs depending on government handouts. These things wouldnt have happened without covid. Most businesses going down due to covid just had the bad luck of being in the wrong, non-corona-proof industry.

When it comes to the billionaires, note that by far not all of them benefitted from this crisis either. It is mostly the Silicon Valley companies and the business models of the future (Amazon, Tesla) who benefit from this crisis. I'm with Bernie when he says that it's time the billionaires finally pay their fair share while the rest of the country hurts like crazy, but his doesnt mean that the corona crisis is just a straightforward extension of pre-existing trends.

And we could easily have prevented this, but your favorite politicians gave hundreds of billions to a few rich people and mega corporations and military contractors instead of helping the middle class and actual small businesses.

Hindsight is 20/20, but yes, in hindsight, the Trump tax bill was a mistake. Repealing Obamacare's individual mandate and capping SALT deductions (both policies included in the tax bill) were still slow-burning masterstrokes from a conservative perspective. It's just that the actual tax cuts should have been going far more to the middle class and far less to the rich.

ahhh yes, because small businesses havent been getting gobbled up by corporations or decades.

small restaurants replaced by chains, small shops replaced by walmarts replaced by amazon, etc.

rising rent prices and declining purchasing power of the american lower-middle class has been killing businesses forever, and the dot com boom made it worse, and covid put it down with no mercy to stop it's suffering.
