EU really pulling out the stops trying to meddle in the French elections to prop up Macron
First the story about how they want to delay banning Russian oil until after the runoff election so Le Pen can't point to the effects on the economy, now this

Guess that's just part and parcel for surrendering sovereignty to Brussels

Apparently the left is going to stay home. A few weeks ago I kind of assumed that most of these people would just go vote for Macron but that doesn't look to be the case. Macron probably still squeaks out win.

PARIS (Reuters) - Most registered activists for French far-left candidate Jean-Luc Melenchon will abstain or leave their ballot papers blank in the presidential runoff between incumbent Emmanuel Macron and far-right challenger Marine Le Pen, an internal consultation showed.

According to results published on Sunday from about 215,000 people who took part, more than 66% said they would abstain, leave their ballot paper blank or spoil it. Just over 33% said they would vote for Macron. The option of voting for Le Pen was not given to respondents.

Imagine a presidential race between Romney and Trump in the U.S. - what would the turnout by lefties look like?

I mean I get it but I always think people would be pragmatic. If I’m on the left and the choice is between a centrist vs someone that’s clearly on the right then wouldn’t it make sense to throw my lot with the centrists as the lesser of two evils?

Macron is significantly to the right (sic!) of Le Pen when it comes to economic/welfare/employment/fiscal policy.

She did fraud, the press is pushing here, but nothing new. I means it's not specific to elections...

Except LePen is a far right wing populist who already got loans from Russia... Meaning all the economic/welfare/employment/fiscal "policy" is only a song to grab votes.

Here's what happened:

Several policemen injured during a new manifestation against the extreme right.
Denouncing the intention of a far-right group of burning a Qur'an, more than 200 protesters faced the Swedish police.

Who did injure those policemen? The extreme right you are talking about? Also, who did burn those police cars? The said far-right group?

Had to double check if this were the European Union News thread.

I'm asking you since you started your post with "Here's what happened:". I thought you knew what you were talking about.

From my news:

"This is the second confrontation of this type in four days in Norrköping. The purpose of this event was to protest against a gathering (finally canceled) of the anti-immigration and anti-Islam movement "hard line". His leader, Rasmus Paludan, has been organizing a series of gatherings for several days, where he goes to neighborhoods with a strong Muslim population to burn a copy of the Qur'an. The training counsel, convicted of racist insults, multiplies the controversy initiatives in recent years."
