Literally incompetent. How douchy to put kids at risk for political points.
It is also putting the future of our children at risk if we dont find a way to send them back to school for the 12-18 months it will realistically take at a minimum until a vaccine becomes available. And not only that, remote classes and isolation from peers will reinforce existing inequalities like crazy.
When it comes to reopening schools, it is the logical thing to take slightly higher risks than with, e.g., bars or gyms. There's simply a ton at stake.
And like Goom correctly pointed out, the risk for preteens is virtually nonexistent, and they are also not the big spreaders some were fearing. Since children can be expected to cope with online/remote learning the better the older they are, I would say we should at least reopen elementary and middle school. The only question up for debate imho is if we should keep high schools closed or try to reopen them too.
