It's a shame that hospitals are forced to tend to illegal aliens and the uninsured. Medicaid doesn't and has never compensated 100% of these costs. These are for profit, private businesses. Such a waste of space.

I take it you haven't taken the vaccine bob?

unfortunately hospitals can't refuse emergency to anyone: unvaccinated or illegals are in the same bag here.

Why should I? I got covid last year. Natural immunity is superior to vaccine immunity. The J&J would be 100% useless since I've already had the virus. The mRNA vaccines have no 4th phase studies, aka mid to long term effects are unknown and unknowable.

I'm not an at risk group, I've already had and "recovered" from this latest and greatest cold that was by far more mild than my first bout with the Flu. There's zero reason whatsoever for me to take the standard type vaccine, and no reason whatsoever to risk an experimental new medication for the mRNA type. If I had a good reason, then I'd take it.

In general, vaccines are awesome. But this, "OMG! The Unvaccinated!" bullshit is exactly that. Bullshit. Vaccines are not a cure all. And Covid is not Smallpox, it's not ebola. It has a very low lethality rate among those under 65, and is miles behind the flu regarding it's impact on Children up to late 20's. 30's, it's less significant than the flu, unless you're a fat fuck.

Those who're at risk or scared should go vaccinate and get back to their lives. Or self quarantine. Those who don't, shouldn't. And in the US, where hospitals are private, for profit businesses, anyone who can pay for care should. Anyone who can't should fuck right off.

I believe the emergency departments of hospitals here also cannot turn away anybody, however, if you are not a citizen or a permanent resident, they will send you an absolutely huge bill. I believe each emergency visit costs upwards of 1000 dollars.

Also you guys need to start sending illegals back to Mexico. They don't belong in the States, and the fact they strain your medical system is just one among the many shitty things they do to you.

Are you saying the vast majority of doctors, nurses, scientists and medical professionals at large got it all wrong with the recommendations/mandates for vaccination?

"Experts" do not write policy. And there are plenty of "medical professionals" who disagree with any form of mandates, lockdowns, or even masking. They've simply been booted from social media.

The bottom line is there has to be a basic risk vs reward analysis performed. SARS-CoV-2 is endemic. It already has some 4000odd variants, with dozens more each week. It's going to exist in the global population forever, just like Influenza.

The goal all rational people strove for was those who were at the highest risk, aka everyone above 65 and anyone with any comorbidities that puts them of high risk of severe symptoms be protected and get vaccinated.

They were protected. They've had the opportunity to get vaccinated. Enough is enough, it's time to get back to it. Children are not at risk. Teenagers are not at risk. Working aged are not at risk unless they obese or have other comorbidities.

I find it sad that such a normally rational person has been taken in by this anti-science, anti-intellectual fear mongering. Go look up the numbers. Tell me what percentage of those hospitalized or what percentage of those who've died had no comorbidities and weren't over the age of 65. Go ahead, I'll wait.

Then, go ahead and compare Covid-related deaths to this time last year, see how they stack up.

Last but not least, tell me, what percentage of people died "from" covid, as opposed to "with" covid. Can you answer that, given every person who tested positive of covid is considered a "covid-related death"?

science works based on consensus of ideas and group examination of data, not elevating fringe voices as experts because they confirm biases.

and policy based on science is rooted in the most recently available somewhat repeatedly tested data, not theories exhaustively proven by repeated testing to the point they're inarguable.

hey, random question i thought you might be able to clarify

When hospitalizations are reported as vaccinated vs unvaccinated, how do they define "vaccinated"?

Is a person only considered vaccinated when they have had both shots, and waited 14 days after their second shot?
