Holy crap last night was a nutty ride. Alts dropped 30% in an hour while btc went up, then alts recover while btc was still up

I'm getting huge ~2000 Internet stocks vibes atm.

Loads of people I know are buying into crypto without reading whitepapers, doing research or anything. Just in there to make a quick buck and get out.

I'm extremely cautious atm. A lot of these runs just feel like whales who are bulling up the alts then selling it for BTC.

alts come and go rise and fall but king btc remains
he simply hints at awakening from his winter slumber and alts scramble to hide

balrog: agreed theres so much new money thinking this is a way to play ‘stock market’ person rather than investing in the tech for the long term. oh well was bound to happen after September’s tumble and publicity led to even moar interest.

Have there been precursors to bitcoin? The first thing of its nature rarely sticks around for long after the surge. First mover advantage is also an innovation disadvantage.

Are you telling me there's no inherent value to any of this and the coins aren't backed by anything? That's heresy good sir!

There's a lot of money to be made in the smaller market cap cryptos.

Here's an example of a good one: https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/hobonickels/

If you go on that market cap site there's a ranking of the exchanges by volume processed

They seem sketchy to me and I couldn't find their white paper very easily. What advantage do they have? Is their mining algorithm optimized for smartphones? Is it just user-friendly? Why not Venmo instead?
