This is why I really regard the excess death count as the only meaningful metric, as it has been since this whole thing started. Nobody really knew how big or small it was otherwise, this is the only concrete number. And yeah, it can be skewed by less people driving, less people in dangerous surgeries, more suicides, whatever. But at the end of the day, if 130,000 more people died in these months of 2020 than did in 2019, that's a pretty good indicator that coronavirus killed ~130,000 people
