Honestly, trying to identify gunshots as a caliber beyond a short distance is a crapshoot at the best of times. Maybe you can tell the difference *firing* a gun, but not a recording of a weapon on uncertain audio fidelity, at a long distance with cubic dropoff and scattering and noise. The fact is, the gun was clearly enough to kill one person and critically injure two, like a 556 as reported, and any lethal ammo even a pea shooting varmint 22 would still cause visible damage to someone's ear if it landed even a slight hit. And even the question of whether it was just shattered glass or other debris is kind of definitively answered not just by his statement of fact that he got hit by the bullet, but the picture that captured a bullet about to hit him. All the probable scenarios got ruled out, all the evidence proves the only remaining improbable scenario, that Trump really did catch net on his ear with a lethal round meant for his head, pretty astronomical odds of having a call that close that was neither miss nor kill

There needs to be a complete overhaul at the secret service. Not just dumping the blame on one scapegoat, this is the kind of monumental failure that should get mass firings across the board and whole new culture in place



There was a better chance that a completely random citizen in the crowd, unarmed and defenseless, would be able to engage this gunman than any of the many heavily armed and coordinated agents with supposed omniscient vision of the premises and security cordons.

why Trump doesn’t have personal private security after the govt turned down his request for more is odd.

Secret Service now has DEI department , going to be tough to overhaul because human rights, diversity and inclusiveness .

The sad thing, Trump assassination attempt speculation has been a talking point among Trump supports for a long time, a serious one. Many locals (rural north MN) were thinking this would happen, especially after Biden last debate. Had a conversation couple days before the event, wrote the guy off as a paranoid conspiracy nut, guess he validated now.

I seriously think if Trump was PKd, then there would be unrest this country has never seen before and no one ready for. Especially considering how quickly things descended into chaos with a what are arguably minor incidents compared to this in recent years like Floyd in Minneapolis and the burning of cities.
