Leninism, I am not sure if I am correct. I just woke up so still a little fuzzy. I remember there is some difference between Leninism and Marxism.
During that period in USSR, China and Vietnam is crazy how they try to influence and brainwash the public. The kids are the ones that suffer the most. Because such ideologue is most likely going to follow them most of their lives.

Leninism in particular is the belief that you need a violent revolutionary vanguard party of the proletariat to take power by force, prior to setting up the systems of communism thus setting up a "dictatorship of the proletariat"

Marx himself doesn't really say anything about needing a violent vanguard party, and opposes dictatorships to begin with

That's why nearly 100% of the time, the violent communist revolutionaries are Marxist-Leninists

And Maoist as well. The amount of damage especially the Gang of Four in China did in the 60s up till 1975 is nothing short of diabolical.

Ya to my understanding Mao was far far worse than Lenin was, although I'm not as familiar with the specifics of Maoism

Lenin himself was "better" than most of the other communist revolutionaries but he still murdered many many people including the brutal murders and torture of the royal family and all their relatives

edit: the plastering of iconography is more of a Stalinist/Maoist thing than a Leninist thing to my understanding
