Yeah, but the economy. You know?

Speaking of sacrifices, did you know that nursing homes get more for caring for covid patients than they do the long term care patients there through medicaid?

Nursing homes found this out and are now breaking their rule of not being able to discharge seniors to a unstable environment (like homeless shelters), which is usually dump them in a hospital. Well we are so good at detecting dumps and bouncing them back for ethical discharging (national law requires a 30 day eviction but demented seniors can't defend themselves) that they're sending the long term care people to shelters to take the covid patients that pay more in.

Long term care facilities are the most ruthless capitalist I've ever encountered. I've never met a group of people more willing to kill a human for money and I've been in the United States army. And they always do it 'to keep the other residents safe'.

I'm curious whether the current record-setting case counts are going to translate to a spike in death counts 2 weeks from now.

Can't take the engine out of the car though.

ahahaha

California senate is proposing a bill that will give renters 14 years deferment to pay their unpaid rent. Tenants would have until 2034 to pay back their debts to the state, while landlords get a tax credit which would stop them from evicting the bums
this is really what fiscal responsibility looks like!

/e

reading the bill, it says that unpaid rent that's due now would be allowed to be repaid over the 10 years from 2024 to 2034, without interest, with landlords given tax credits each of those years equal to that amount.
so the landlords in this case would be completely unpaid for the rent they're owed for the next 4 years, followed by diminished tax credits on a depreciating value

major yikes

The left has some next level garbage policies. Like is there no one there that can ask the simple question ‘what are the long term effects of this?’

There are houses and apartments available for all americans, housing insecurity is due to lack of affordable housing, which aren't the kinds of apartments that have value (for developers).

In fact families being stable and not becoming homeless is much more important than gentrified apartments that displace people anyway.

That time period is insane though and i agree with you on that.

I realize now you were not objecting to the premise of it and i am being unfair of you in my criticism.
