In essence, their outbreak has abated and yours hasn't. It's increasing like wildfire in the less urbanised red states which will likely lead to a death rate more comparable to Western Europe at around 600 deaths per 1m (worldometers shows 359 currently).
Please do the math on COVID-19 deaths per country taking demographics into consideration
