poland and hungary have been the main recipients of EU money for years, if not decades. MASSIVE budget drains. your attempts to portray that fact in a more positive light don't make the statement any less true...

and no, hungary and poland's right wing governments are not merely "rejecting wokeism", or whatever you want to call the opposition against the discrimination of people based on race / religion / sexuality / gender... they are actively ROLLING BACK protections and rights of women and minorities, pushing laws, changes to the judicial system, and even the constitution in order to consolidate power. now obviously i'm not surprised that you bootlickers are trying to defend those authoritarians - but you'll have to come up with a better excuse to justify those blatant power grabs of religious zealots and bigots.

concerning orban's fragility: the dude canceled his planned visit to that very game because of criticism of his anti LGBTQ legislation, ffs. concerning his UEFA connections and influence: https://www.focus.de/sport/fussball/em_2021/kommentar-von-hugo-mueller-vogg-im-bett-mit-orban-regenbogen-debatte-zeigt-die-ganze-verlogenheit-der-uefa_id_13427436.html

That's an old chart buddy, did you notice the UK was the second largest net contributor? Bad idea to make the British exit the union because of EU's pathetic "progressive" policies especially migration laws that are dictated by Brussels. Who are the real dictators hmm?

Nice hole in the budget there btw ;)

orban is now planning to make the controversial, so called LGBTQ laws a referendum......but....but the leftist media said that hungary is a dictatorship!!!111!!!

thats going to be interesting ^_^

the liberal forces in the country will just boycott the referendum to discredit it, rather than losing.
worst case scenario for them is that orban wins the referendum and can then stick it to the EU saying "see, the majority of my country supports my LGBTQ policies, eat shit".

if they boycott it, orban will win the referendum with close to 100% in favor, but he cannot claim that the results are representative of the will of the hungarian people.
it would also help paint the picture of orban as a shady wannabe-dictator who's conducting elections and plebiscites which are reminiscent of the riggered elections in the former eastern bloc.

you could make that argument for every vote

if you dont show up, its your own problem

nobody talks about the result being representative after a parliament election with like 60% attendance

if orban wins this referendum its the will of the people

of course its a bogus argument as long as the election is not genuinely rigged - but it's by far their best bet to counter orban's maneuver with the referendum.

they did the same in Romania and the referendum to make marriage between a man and woman specifically in the constitution was lost because not enough people went out to vote.
the percentage was like 92% in favor of the change though.

Viktor Orban is a great leader, take this from a Romanian and you might know that hungarians and us are not best buddies.

Hungary has a really high quorum for referendums. The number of valid ballots cast must be at least 50% of the eligible voters. Say the left-leaning or liberal opposition parties have a joint strength of 31% like in Hungary, and their voters all abstain tactically. Then, assuming the share of 'yes' votes is close to 100% of votes cast, the voters of the parties in favor of the referendum (Fidesz, Jobbik) would need a turnout of 73% or higher among their supporters to get the quorum. That's close to impossible if we're being honest.

I don't know how is it in Germany these days, but there is lots of bad blood between Polaks and Jews from before war. Dude i worked with in Chicago had this list in his wallet with the names of Polish/Jewish politicians with theirs supposed original Jewish names as in Walesa-Stoltzman.
