ok lets start 3. have a conversation
1. why second amendment? why did the founding fathers think it was important.
Sure let's have an honest conversation about second amendment, but keep in mind im not from the US and may see things differently.
"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
The amendments were created in 1789. I think that things were really different back then.
To put it in perspective, phones were invented in 1876. So it was a while back. No security cameras, no way to track down people by license number etc etc.
So it was quite obvious why EVERYONE needed a gun to protect themselves.
In theory, yes second amendment makes sense to also promote a free state. I agree with that. HOWEVER (and that's a big one), there are lots of negative side effects.
Firstly there are alot of sick people out there that could go on a killing spree which evidently happens alot in the US.
Secondly the issue I see with free state and guns is that US military is no fucking joke. If they see they may be harmed they'll turn you into a cheese with lots of bullet holes.
I am all for protesting peacefully if the state is doing something wrong and we have tons of examples where this worked.
The only way to protest is literally with peace where the police/military don't feel threatened because if they do they won't hold back to kill you immediately and nobody can do anything about it.
For these reasons I believe society is better off without guns and that 2nd amendment is not the solution.
PS: People need to know that the "founding fathers" are not the founding titans from attack on titans. They are not all knowing. They agreed on something that seemed right at that time. Maybe it doesnt hold that well in todays day and age.
PS-2: I am really trying to have a normal conversation with you
Lets see how that goes
