New Zealand rapidly promoted a queer woman to a command role in their Navy, and she got her first captain of a major ship a couple months ago. And this week ran it into a reef, capsized it and exploded it for a total loss of an uninsured $64 million vessel that is 1/10th of their whole navy and their only sinking post WW2.

Kiwi media has a bunch of articles praising the captain for saving lives with a timely evacuation. Hot take I guess. She had no prior commands on minor/support vessels and went straight to the biggest ships they had, her last command was a school classroom.

imo this is one of the greatest stories. i been around long enough to know how she used to be. one of the loudest full on leftist. then she tested the things she believed. this story should have its own thread. maybe i will do that. but for now going to post it here.
