Parties change their platforms from time to time, their ideology evolves. Saying Trump is not a Republican is like saying JFK was not a Democrats because of his stances on civil rights.
I would even argue that it's the other way round: Trump was the catalyst for an minor shift in the GOP, one which realigned the party to be more focused on populism and less focused on fiscal conservatism. I think that the party is now more in sync with its base than it was during the previous Romney/Ryan era, which saw a large disconnect between the agendas of the GOP leadership and the base.
No, the people who stepped out will be stepping back in. The GOP will have its conservatives again after Trump leaves and the pigs like Lindsey Grahm will be roasted in a nice GOP luau after Trumpism fails. Trump has about the same chance to leave a legacy as Chavez...both similar figures, their influence won't last past their life in politics.
Is really naive you think trump killed conservatism in the GOP. But we will take conservatives in the Democratic party, provided the GOP continues Trump's White identity politics his cross burning base loves.
There are a sizable group of americans who support Trump because they believe he will save the white race in America. That grosses a lot of conservatives out.
You are big dishonest about populism was populism would include benefits for the populace. Trump is fucking up their health care and making their jobs shut down by failing Covid 19.
