hilarious to see the infighting as a result of these midterms. half of the GOP is cursing McConnel for not following EX potus trump's wishes and pumping cash into his chosen candidate's coffers. the other half is going anti-Trump, pro-Desantis, and ready to move on as a party. big split incoming and 2024 should be the tipping point. as of now it's looking like Ron vs Don OR Ron vs Don's chosen pick. either way it is gonna be hilarious.
now let's dial back to when Biden called out "maga republicans" and was looked at in the same light as HRC's "half of these people are what i like to call deplorables" comment. when in reality it was correct, half of the remaining party are diehard trump loyalists, dont trust any of the elections to be fair, and want to severe ties from establishment GOP. 99% of the batshit that comes from the GOP comes from this 50% of the GOP. they're your side's purple haired anarchist communist wicken LGBTQ bumper sticker plastered voters. but i'd argue make up a higher percent of the voting bloc.
They're both wrong. McConnell has made a series of gambits that have worked out, but the direction of the party is changing, and he needs to acknowledge that. Meanwhile picking idiots for seats is a disaster, and always has been. What Trump excels at is low cunning, and even that is fading, he cannot be allowed to play kingmaker in the Republican party.
Democracy is picking who represents you. Biden's version of democracy is "vote for me or you're not democratic", which is just about the antithesis of an actual democratic process. Voters should be trusted to make these decisions on an individual basis (i.e. with Boebert), otherwise we're just acknowledging that democracy isn't working out. Trump's behavior has degenerated since 2016, and Americans have responded accordingly. At the same time, that doesn't mean electing Ayatollah Barnes to a Senate seat, and Americans agreed. The hysteria Biden's generating is decidedly anti-democratic.
