The punishment was entirely disproportionate to the crime. That's obvious. When the government is arguing that a murderer who burned down a house with someone inside (in the middle of a riot) deserves consideration of circumstance, but some bozo who wandered onto the Capitol deserves the hammer somethings gone really, really wrong.
Mary Moriarty here in Minneapolis had a fun case. A jilted ex-boyfriend had two gang banger buddies show up to his ex-girlfriend Zaria McKeever's apartment to murder her new lover. The new boyfriend escaped through a window, and the gunmen found Zaria McKeever and shot her nine times and murdered her in cold blood
Mary Moriarty offered one of the gunmen a plea deal to spend no time in prison and instead receive counseling.
The uproar was enough in the media she withdrew it and even Tim Walz threatened to step in. Finally Foday "Kevin" Kamara was sentenced to 11 years in prison
11 years in prison. He broke into a woman's house and executed her in cold blood, a planned murder with malice aforethought. The guy who pepper sprayed a police officer got 14 years in prison. Tim Kaine's son not only shot off pepper spray but wrestled with cops, and got 4 days in jail.
And of course Enrique Tarrio is a political prisoner because democrats think he's a runaway n*****
